"not only are we thrilled with the photos, you made the entire experience easy and fun too"

That’s the goal! After 22 years photographing weddings, I have learned providing a fantastic photography experience is as important the photography itself. You can expect quick responses to your emails, friendly coordination with your vendors, painless and fun picture-taking with helpful direction on what to do, and easy follow-up after the big day. Oh yes, and lots of look-at-the-camera and candid images that you’ll love for years to come.

FAQ

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN PHOTOGRAPHING WEDDINGS?
2023 will mark my 22nd year in professional photography. I started when I was 18 in college, working for a fabulous Seattle wedding photographer, then went out on my own a few years later. I’d say in total, I’ve been a shutterbug at 300+ weddings.

WE’RE NOT GREAT IN FRONT OF A CAMERA, WILL YOU TELL US WHAT TO DO?
Of course! My clients are regular folk, not professional models. Rather than force you into awkward poses and tell you to look at the camera, I give simple directions like  “throw your arms around him and tell him what you loved about your first date”. You connect to that memory, and each other, forget about me, and the genuine expressions and moments follow. Of course I love to bring out the fun too, so I’ll tell you to “grab her butt” or ask “what item of clothing in their closet do you wish would go missing?”. Silly prompts make it easier to relax and be yourselves, which makes the session more enjoyable, leading to candid photos that capture you.

DO YOU TRAVEL?
Yes! I have been lucky enough to do destination weddings all over the world (Thailand, Key West, Hawaii) and regionally too (Cle Elum, Chelan, San Juan Islands, Walla Walla). Message me for a custom travel quote.

WHAT DOES YOUR FEE INCLUDE?
My fee includes a consultation, mini engagement session, my time and talent on your wedding day, a second shooter, the post-processing of your images, the hi res digital files (in color and some black and white), and the print release for your images. You may also add a bigger engagement session, rehearsal dinner coverage, and/or custom album as you like.

HOW MANY HOURS DO YOU THINK WE NEED?
Probably 8 if it’s the “usual” – getting ready, first look, formal photos, ceremony, and reception with dancing. If you don’t need the getting ready shots, or are having a small reception without dancing then the 6 hour package makes sense. If you will be using various locations for your wedding day (think hotel, then church, then reception hall), or have a large wedding party and/or family, the 10 hour option is best.

WHAT ABOUT PRINTS?
I don’t include a print credit in your package, as different clients prefer different size orders. You do receive the digital files and an online gallery, though, and can order prints, enlargements, and canvases directly from the professional lab that I partner with at reasonable prices.

 …AND ALBUMS?
You can order one of those too! I will bring a sample album to your wedding consultation. I offer a standard 20 page, 10×10 flush-mount album a la carte, and gift albums are also available. Please inquire for custom sizes and additional pages.

WHAT’S A MINI ENGAGEMENT SESSION?
My mini engagement sessions are a “warm up” for your wedding day. It’s a quick 30 minute session at one of my select Seattle locations, and includes 50+ digital files to use for your guest book, website, you name it! The shoot is a chance for us to work together in a relaxed setting, and have you get a feel for my shooting style. After viewing your images, you can send any feedback my way (“more of this” or “less of that”), to customize your wedding photography to a tee. If you’d like a more in-depth session, you can upgrade to an hour shoot in the city or an adventure session around the PNW.

CAN WE SHARE OUR IMAGES ON SOCIAL MEDIA?
Of course! Photos are best when shared. Just please note me as the photographer and include a link to my website when you can. No filters pretty please.

WHAT EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE?
I shoot on a Canon R5 (mirrorless), and Canon 5D Mark IIIs and use a variety of lenses including a Canon 50mm f/1.2L,  35mm f/1.4L, 70-105 f/4L, and EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM. I use 600EX speed lights for reception flash photography. My Photoflex Litediscs help me diffuse and bounce light when needed. I edit in Lightroom and Photoshop.

WHAT DOES THE SECOND SHOOTER DO?
All my seconds are professional photographers and know their stuff. They help me coordinate group formal shots (“herding cats”), set up equipment, and shoot additional perspectives in large churches and big venues. Just know that the majority of images in your final gallery will be taken by yours truly.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO GET OUR WEDDING PHOTOS?
Up to 6 weeks for full day coverage and 3 weeks for small events. As noted above, I usually spend about 20 hours editing a typical 8-hour wedding, and I want your photos to look their very best. Having been a bride myself, I know how anxious one is to see photos! With your permission, I post a sneak peek on my socials within a day of your wedding and a blog post a few weeks later so the wait doesn’t feel so long.

HOW DO WE BOOK YOU?
I usually start with a consult either in-person or over Zoom, then a signed contract and deposit will formally book your date. If you’re anxious to book, a quick phone call will suffice too!

WHAT HAPPENS IF ANOTHER COUPLE WANTS TO BOOK OUR DATE WHILE WE’RE DECIDING?
If you’re the first to inquire about the date, via an email or in-person meeting, then you have the right of first refusal. If another couple asks about the same date, I will contact you to let you know, and give you 24 hours to make your decision before making the date available to the other couple.
